I was going to call this weblog (wiblog?) - Chas' all-too-short lunchbreak - but I'm not allowed an apostrophe, and I might live to regret the 'all-too-short'. Our working practices have changed, which means that two lunchbreaks a week have (in my case) been shortened by half an hour. Nothing to moan about, but when you rely on your lunchbreak to recover from the morning's efforts, not to mention the previous night's lack of sleep, it makes for an interesting afternoon.
Anyway, I expect that the commonest time for this journal to be updated will be during my lunchbreak, so the title should prove over time, to be accurate. But to-day, it's morning, and I haven't had my breakfast yet. I'm at home, because to-day I go to the dentist. Then, hopefully, I'm going to purchase a new mobile phone, and in the afternoon, our daughter's school is having an Open Day, so we get to go in and wander round, while the children are there, and find out just what they do.
Back to the observation about our mode of working being changed. I spend a certain amount of my working hours being on a helpdesk, answering phone calls, emails, and visits from people who are having problems with their computers. The opening hours of the helpdesk have been extended, supposedly for a trial period. The knock-on effects of this have been causing difficulty. Last night, I dreamt that I was on the helpdesk all night! Perhaps it is time to say clearly that I don't think the new arrangement is a good idea.
