Blame it on a virus

On Monday morning, second born woke up with a temperature. I stayed at home with him. Wife arrived home from work around lunchtime, so I travelled to work and did an afternoon's work. He was still poorly in the evening, so I phoned the emergency doctor (this may seem over the top, but about a year ago he had pneumonia). We are fortunate that the surgery where the emergency doctor for the whole county is situated is not far from where we live. I took him up to see the doctor. She examined him. No particular cause for concern.

On Tuesday, wife took a turn at staying home with second born. She had a hospital appointment for herself in the afternoon, so I came home at lunchtime to look after second born, and pick up first born from school. Then we all drove to the hospital to give wife a lift home.

I've been concerned also about computer viruses. Our home computer is old. It was running Windows 3.1 when it was purchased (originally for work). Where I work, we have a site licence for McAfee VirusScan, and we encourage people to install the software also at home (which is covered by the licence). With a bit of a struggle, I now have McAfee running on our home computer.

To-day, second born is back at nursery. First born will be going to Rainbows this evening.
