Another hazard

When we arrived home yesterday afternoon, the twins from two doors along appeared, and asked if daughter would like to play. Son went along as well, daughter being asked to look after her brother. It was probably about half an hour later that daughter was back, in considerable distress. She had slipped and fallen on the neighbour's driveway, which was having some sort of lacquer applied. She had bumped her head, and one leg was covered with the stuff that was being put on the driveway. It took about an hour of scrubbing in the bath to clean up her leg. There is still some in her hair.

As an effort to help the environment, this week I am making the journey to and from work by bus instead of car. This is a trial, with the possibility of abandoning the car altogether next year (not getting rid of the car - just not using it to get to work). To-day was generally OK, but with a 20 minute wait in the middle (it takes at least 2 bus journeys for me to travel from where I live to where I work).
