Quite enjoying Emotional Intelligence

I think that I've mentioned already that I'm reading a book called "Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman. It's interesting that people now believe that they can understand from the physical layout of the brain the long-standing conflict (often unresolved) between head and heart. It seems that there is a part of the brain which has quick (and dirty) access to some of what we sense, and can trigger an immediate (and not always appropriate) reaction. It has helped me a little to observe that some of my thoughts, which I would rather disown, may be rather crude responses to situations learned when I was rather younger than I am now.

Of course, I have to be careful, reading a book which is clearly rooted in a materialistic view of being human, also to be aware that there is another view, which sees us as the rebellious creation of a kind and gracious God.
