To-day was going to be complicated. Somebody damaged my offside wing mirror a few weeks ago, and I've been meaning to get it fixed. This morning, daughter and I got up early to drive into town (the garage I go to is not far from the centre of Edinburgh). Originally, I'd planned a day in town, but daughter had been invited to a birthday party, which was going to necessitate our breakfasting in town, then bussing home, then me escorting daughter to the house of the birthday girl, then me bussing back into town to collect the car.

But the garage owner had news. He'd been sent the wrong part. (I believe that he'd tried to phone us yesterday, to let us know.) So, we left the car with him (I almost didn't leave him the car key), intending to retrieve the car to-morrow (I was relieved, to tell the truth). Breakfast in McDonalds. A quick incursion to HMV, to buy the Hi-5 CD (these should, of course, be links, but I'm offline). A (just a little too) helpful assistant tracked down the CD for us. And a FirstBus home.

And thank you, alice, for your good wishes. We need somehow to get our heads above the water, but not quite sure how ...
