Some months ago, probably at the instigation of Christian Aid, I wrote to my MP, asking her to support 'Make Trade Fair'. I was pleased, and a little surprised, to receive a reply, which clearly indicated that she herself is a strong advocate. This week-end, an invitation arrived, to an open surgery next week-end. Quite excited, really.
It'll be a week-end of meetings, it appears. Our church is having an 'extra-ordinary congregational meeting' on Friday evening, to announce some interesting (we are told) developments. We have a new Rector and a new Bishop, so, no doubt, it is time for new initiatives. It's unfortunate that this meeting and the open surgery are coming so close together. Neither is likely to be child-friendly, which may mean wife having to spend more time as sole child-carer.
Daughter was seeing her consultant yesterday. It was to have been for all the family, but I felt fluey, and thought it better to stay away (consultant is an oncologist, and I wouldn't have wanted to pass my infection on to his immune-depressed patients). I still acted as taxi-driver, but 'did my own thing' while wife, daughter, and son saw the doctor.
