Abandoning the lunchtime slot ...

Since the chances of me having peace to update my wiblog to-day at lunchtime are pretty slim ...

Maybe Scottish Gas will be able to complete their involvement in the saga of the leaking hot water cylinder to-day. They've arranged for an electrician, who says that he will be here this morning (to fit a fused spur, I believe, but I suspect he may have difficulty. I had a look in the roof space yesterday, and the wiring looks chaotic, to say the least.) Strange things have been happening. First, on Saturday, the whole house went dark. It seemed to be a problem with the main kitchen light which (you've guessed) is directly beneath the hot water cylinder. Then, an outside light spluttered and died. It's close to where the engineers were working to fit the new cylinder. Not sure how much we can expect this electrician to get involved.

And I'll have to phone Tearcraft. I ordered some items which were to be Christmas presents. Only one item has arrived, and it was delivered here, instead of my work, where I thought I had asked for things to be delivered. Of course, I'm not at work now until the New Year.

Yesterday, I took son to the Sick Kids, for an appointment to see an orthopaedic surgeon. Or rather, as it turned out, we saw the physiotherapist, who examined his lower limbs. You may recall that we'd been concerned about him having sore feet through the night. The physiotherapist reckons it is simply growing pains. He hasn't been troubled for a couple of months now, so we're hoping that he's growing out of it.

Whenever we drive to the children's hospital, there is always the question of where we're going to park. There are a few free (as in, you don't have to pay for them) spaces, but it is seldom that there is one free (as in, not taken). But on this occasion, running late, I arrived, saw no space, then noticed that a driver was preparing to leave. I clung to my prime position, even though another car came in behind me, and I managed to claim the space. Not particularly self-effacing, or charitable, but if we hadn't parked when we did, we would have been seriously late for son's appointment. I really think that it was a miracle. PTL (but forgive me for being selfish).

Merry Christmas, everyone.
