A quiet week-end

Nearly didn't leave the house yesterday, except that son and I played for a while in the garden. We didn't make church. Daughter is the only family member these days who is enthusiastic about church, and as she says, 'she got up too early for church'. For 'early', read 'late', but she deserved a lie-in. In the event, we held our own service, including communion (cream crackers doing duty as wafers).

On Saturday we invested in a Freeview box, which means that we now have the joy of wall-to-wall CBeebies, until 7 pm. The BedTime Hour seems like a good idea, but it comes a bit too early for our progeny. But I had the pleasure of watching most of the cartoon adaptation of The Cunning Little Vixen on BBC 4 on Saturday evening. Had some difficulty picking up the words, but I'm sure I heard the woodman say to the vixen's daughter something like - "I would bring you up right, and they wouldn't be making a cartoon about us ..."
