I understand that when you're the target of a beam of high-energy radiation, you experience an unusual smell, and a strange taste in your mouth. I think that it's something to do with the presence of ozone. So we're establishing a ritual, whereby daughter sucks a polomint before her treatment, to counteract the rather unpleasant taste. Timing is critical, because, of course, the radiographers aren't too happy with the idea of her lying in the treatment room on her own with a sweetie in her mouth (silly me, who at first thought that the idea was for her to suck the polomint during her treatment, and offered her one at just the wrong moment).
I suspect that the packs of polomints are multiplying. But she isn't being fattened. On the contrary, I noticed last night that she has become horribly thin. The consultant did say, some time ago, that she could lose weight on account of a malfunctioning hypothalamus.
