The 'controversial' Bishop of Durham

I have much enjoyed a series of programmes on Radio 3, on Sunday afternoons, entitled Spring Journey. The Bishop of Durham has been interweaving thoughts and music, quite effectively. Yesterday's edition, entitled 'Hope', included some quite provocative comments about the resurrection, and what it means. Of course, when you start to say what a certain piece of music means, you enter dangerous territory; I suppose that if you say what the resurrection means, you take your life in your hands.

I hope (in another sense) to watch this evening's programme on Channel 4, in which the Bishop takes a view of the resurrection which the Radio Times describes as 'controversial', but which most Christians, I would have thought, will be quite happy with (judging from the blurb in the Radio Times). I'm a little upset that whenever there is a programme debunking the Christian view of something, it is described as a 'documentary', but when it affirms the Christian view, it becomes a 'sermon'.

A reply has arrived from the Western General Hospital (to my letter complaining about how difficult it has been to find a parking space). They are saying, basically, that they are aware of the problem, and are doing their best. I hope (there it is again) to continue the correspondence, to suggest that the provision of parking has to be a priority in all their plans, not just a problem to be solved when everything else has been decided. But it was good of them to reply, and I appreciate that.

Thankfully, daughter's treatment is almost finished. We have two days this week, carried over because we missed one day due to a machine problem, and then Good Friday and Easter Monday have been holidays. A quiet celebration will be in order.
