Not quite the result we intended

All of the street lights in the close have been on all week-end. I suppose that the men from the council switched them on to check whether our light was working. And perhaps they forgot to switch them off again. Perhaps they meant to leave them on.

Didn't make church this morning. Yesterday was a great day, but hard work. Marks and Spencer as early as achievable in the morning - to do our weekly shop. Then home again, then out again with Son to NewCraighall station, which happens to be not far from Marks and Spencer, to get the train into Edinburgh; lunch in McDonalds (a McDonalds which I didn't know existed, just off Waverley Steps, well-known as the windiest place in the whole world); a walk in Princes Street Gardens; then to John Lewis, to spend some pocket money.

Son found a Power Rangers toy, which he bought, but we discovered that the Baby Born Bath Tub is no longer stocked, which meant that the next part of the plan, which involved Wife and Daughter getting the bus into town from Musselburgh (where Daughter does a drama workshop most Saturdays) so that we could all meet in John Lewis, didn't make much sense. Arranged, instead, to meet up in Toys R Us in Fort Kinnaird - Son and I would get the train back to NewCraighall, while Wife and Daughter would get the bus from Musselburgh. We managed to meet, but Toys R Us don't stock the bathtub either. In fact, nobody does, it appears, apart from a seller on eBay, who is aware that it is 'hard to get', and expects to get a price commensurate with its scarcity. It's sad, and not a good lesson for Daughter, who has been patiently saving up since Christmas.

Another early start this morning, as Daughter is attending swimming lessons at the local pool. By the time we got back, I simply didn't have the energy to have a quick breakfast, and be out again for church. Wife and Daughter took the bus.
