Arithmetic

If a swimming lesson starts at 9 o'clock, how can Daughter possibly be in the pool ready to start if the centre doors open at 9 o'clock? Somebody, somewhere, needs to do some simple arithmetic.

And Sunday morning arithmetic doesn't leave time for church. Maybe in theory a swimming lesson could be followed by breakfast could be followed by church, but in practice it just isn't happening. Next week I'm supposed to be helping with Kidz Klub (or whatever they call it nowadays). Perhaps an extra hour will magically appear in the middle of the morning.

But if you factor in emotional energy - if it could somehow be quantified, then the sums definitely don't add up. Week-ends are supposed to be an opportunity to recharge the batteries, not to drain them to the limit. Grandma wanted a visit this afternoon, which I made, and which worked out OK, but it's all deficit (actually, though I dreaded it, the trip was pretty good - I listened to my new DAB radio on the bus, and had a pleasant chat with Grandma - and it was nice down by the seashore - on the way back a little boy was asking his mum - why is the sea calm?). So it was OK, but ... somewhere, somehow, I (and Wife) need to get some rest (or respite).
