Mistaken identity

This has never happened to me before. I was on a 26, or so I thought. When the bus went straight on at the traffic lights by Luca's, I thought that the driver had made a mistake. I thought that he would go all the way around the roundabout at Levenhall, and retrace his steps (so to speak), and then regain his proper route. But at Levenhall, he carried on as if he was a 15. In fact, he carried on being a 15 all the way to Tranent (and, by a curious coincidence, Petroc Trelawney is just talking about Shostakovich's 15th Symphony (on Radio 3)).

It turned out that he was a 15. But the number on the front of the bus was 26. So a number of people who wanted to go to Prestonpans were, to say the least, inconvenienced. But I was happy, because while a 26 will do, a 15 is better (or, at least, more direct).
