Keswick

A quick attempt to answer TractorGirl's request for comment. I must emphasise that I am writing this just seconds after reading the questions. If I waited a while, I might come up with something more reflective - maybe it would be good to revisit the subject later, and see if my perspective is different. But I suspect that first thoughts are also interesting, so here goes ...

1 Keswick

2 I went with my (then) church

3 The phrase which characterises Keswick for me is - heavy going. The sessions in the tent were, definitely, heavy - probably too heavy for me - and not conducive to a spiritual experience.

I would like, however, to highlight one positive aspect of going to Keswick. On the second occasion, instead of staying in a bed and breakfast, I signed up for the Action Partners camp. Being on my own, I shared a tent with two AP missionaries. And the ethos of the camp was that we all helped - I did a stint in the kitchen, looking after two pieces of equipment (I can't even remember what they were, but two of them were named after a well-known chain of shoe shops, I think). The whole experience was one that I would thoroughly recommend.

And, of the three who slept in that tent, two were single. One of the Action Partners staff announced that she would pray for us to find wives. Within a year, I was married, and I believe that the other fellow also found himself a bride. If that isn't a result, I don't know what is!
