Yes, I know it's Maundy Thursday, but Monday and Thursday are both days, so Monday Thursday sounds right, doesn't it? There's some kind of a do on at church, to which, to be fair, we were invited, but I'm not too clear what's involved, and Beloved is going out tonight with a friend, and I thought that the logisitics of us trying to go out as well might be too much. So, I'm at home with the little ones, and we've just had a pretty good tea, except that Gardener didn't eat his potato wedges, which is a bit of a problem, because Gardener is in the habit of not eating his tea, and looks rather thin; unfortunately, Beloved and I have seriously different approaches to the way to resolve this problem.
We spent a pleasant hour in the library this afternoon - they'd organised an Easter craft session. I sat and read a book (well, that's what you do in a library, isn't it?). Celebrity and Gardener were very good.
I guess that I've reached the point in my week off (wee cough?) when I begin to think that I've got to go back to work soon, so the climb back to work-readiness will have to begin. It has been, in some ways, a dark week, which is appropriate for Holy Week. I can't help feeling somewhat down as I think of Jesus facing a gruelling trial, forced into it by the very people who should have welcomed him as their Saviour. And I can't help wondering just how we would react if he came again, quietly, and we found ourselves disturbed by God's physical presence. Adrian Plass' "The Visit" explores some of this territory.
