Celebrating Easter

It's been a good Easter Sunday, although I haven't set foot inside a church all day. Beloved and Celebrity walked down the road to our local Church of Scotland parish church, and enjoyed the service. Gardener and I stayed at home, and watched a DVD of Treasure Planet, an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island". I enjoyed the way that they'd transposed the action into a space travelling future.

There's a real possibility that we could make the parish church our home church. When we moved here, we attended a couple of services, but didn't really feel that there was much happening for young children. And then we tried an Episcopal church in a neighbouring town, which seemed to suit us better. Previously, when we lived in Edinburgh, we went to a large Episcopal church in the centre of the city. So it was probably an easier transition then to move to a smaller Episcopal church than it would have been to try to find our niche in a Presbyterian church. I was brought up a Presbyterian, but can think of only one church that I have ever been really happy in. We are beginning to feel, however, that we don't really belong in the church we attend, possibly because they don't seem to have any sense of mission for the town where we live. It would be a pretty seismic shift if we were to make the move, and not necessarily a happy one, at least initially.

This afternoon, we climbed Traprain Law. Somehow, we avoided being rained on.
