Profound

Watched 'Songs of Praise' (penance for not attending church this morning) - it seemed to be one of these review programmes, with bits of previous programmes. A couple of interesting snippets - Murray Watts (who wrote the screen play for The Miracle Maker) commented that there are no good people and bad people, just people who are lost and people who are found. And I've just read fineline's discussion - and wondering if the two illuminate each other - the religious person who thinks that he is found, but is really lost - I wouldn't say that he is beyond hope, but until he recognises his lostness, he isn't going to be found.

Coincidentally, daughter's bedtime story (when I'm reading) is Patricia St John's The Tanglewoods' Secret, which also explores the theme of being lost and being found.

The other Songs of Praise interview was with a steely Joni Earickson - I'm scared to comment, really - but her final reference to her circumstances as 'a terrible mercy' made an impact.
