Of course, I returned to work on Monday (as did wife, and the children started the new school term). But I was off Wednesday and Thursday with a tummy bug. So here I am.
A bit depressed. We are undergoing a 'pay and reward modernisation' exercise, and won't know until October (having submitted our job descriptions back in May, if I remember correctly) the outcome. I may be 'red circled', which would mean that they think that I'm being paid too much, and have three years to increase the scope or responsibility of my job, otherwise I would then have my pay dropped to whatever it turns out to be. Of course, I'm not the only one affected - I wonder if the powers-that-be have calculated the effect on the general morale of the university which is resulting. And our team has been without a manager for over a year. At last, the job has been advertised (to-day, I understand, is the closing date). But for now, uncertainty prevails.
I'm trying to do my own review. Perhaps I can have some thoughts ready for when our new manager is in place.
