No visit to Whitby would be complete without a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (or, in the case of this holiday, two rides). Nowadays, on certain days, you can catch a steam train from Whitby to Grosmont, where you can change to a train running on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway itself. This photo shows "The Royal Lancashire Fusiliers" at Whitby station. I can't decide whether the presence of the gentleman also intent on capturing this locomotive on film enhances or detracts from the picture:
