My ISP is going through a difficult time. They are changing the company which actually provides the service, which means, I guess, that everything that matters is really changing - just the face stays the same. Unfortunately, one of the consequences of the change appears to be that our usernames have changed. It's odd, actually, being on the receiving end - at work, we have a system which often means that people have usernames which they don't like, but we assure them that they can choose their email address (up to a point), so their username really doesn't matter - all the while cherishing the fact that we who have been there for a while have somehow managed to retain friendly usernames. So now I learn that the quirky username which I chose for myself when I joined this ISP has been transmogrified into my.name3 (well, sort of - where my is my first name and name is my surname). I wouldn't have minded my.name, but my.name3 - this is unacceptable. Except that I may not have any choice in the matter.
I'm not a happy bunny. I suppose that the ISP's discussion board would be a better place to complain, but I don't really want to give the editor of Surefish a harder time than he is already having. I understand that he was at Greenbelt. Did anyone see a somewhat haggard man wandering about the Surefish tent?
