Where have I been?

Trying to maintain some kind of perspective. See my other blog for the ongoing story which is sabotaging all my efforts to be relaxed and happy just now. Which is a pity, because apart from that, life is not too bad. We had a good holiday; even work is potentially more rewarding, since (at last) our new manager has been appointed (not entirely new - the appointee has been acting team manager for more than a year), and we can all start to work out where we go from here. My new boss is handing on to me a responsibility which he, understandably, didn't want to let go of until he knew his own circumstances. Sadly, even the use of a word like 'rewarding' makes me shudder, given the shennanigans we are having to deal with.

[I have taken the unprecedented step (for me) of deleting a number of posts in that other blog - my apologies.]

Gearing up for Hallowe'en. I'm afraid that I'm not greatly impressed by the attempts of Christians to demonise activities which I, certainly, enjoyed as a youngster, and I don't particularly want to deny my own children the opportunity to take part in some of the fun. We've been invited to a Hallowe'en party to-morrow afternoon. Son is keen to go out trick or treating on the night. Wife, understandably, is not looking forward to rewarding hordes of children coming to our door (I've often thought about switching off all the lights, and pretending that we aren't in).
