Becoming something of a tradition - we get the 'real' train to Ravenglass, then the narrow gauge up Eskdale to Dalegarth. I would happily have sat on one of the open carriages, but, sociably, on this occasion, crouched, enclosed with the rest of the party. Perhaps just as well, because as we ascended we encountered rain. We've always enjoyed this trip. The Ravenglass to Eskdale line is fun - it has the feel of a toy railway, but covers grown up distance.
