The reality

Wife had to deal with constant interruptions and requests while trying to concentrate on her difficult task. She could have gone off to a room apart, but I guess that she preferred to be at her familiar workstation. It's a problem which I face continually - I'm supposed to spend some of my time on project work, but people expect a quick turnaround when they ask me to do day-to-day tasks.

I was able to enjoy my work for a while this morning, when I started to use the new version of Microsoft Office. As always, there are good things to discover, and the occasional disappointment, but on the whole I was quite pleased that I could more or less carry on working without making a huge readjustment.

And some excitement here at home: at the weekend I ordered a couple of items from the excellent Teddy Bear Ark. I wasn't entirely sober at the time. We've had a card to say that something is waiting for us at the delivery office. I've suggested to daughter and son that if they can get ready quickly to-morrow morning, we can pick up the package and take a look inside when we get to the breakfast club. It will be fascinating to see just how quickly they can get ready if they are motivated.
