the paraLympics have got us all thinking positively about a topic which we generally view negatively ...

I enjoyed watching the second part of the last night of the proms on television / tuning in especially to see the glorious Nicola Benedetti perform, which, of course, she did, in spades / then appreciated Joseph Calleja's rumbustuous rendition of 'Rule, Britannia' (he came on stage wearing what I think was a Team GB Olympic jacket, which he then opened to reveal a Maltese Cross) / somehow the evening as a whole was a moving experience, perhaps reflecting the fact that it was Jiri Belohlavek's last night as chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra ...

and two CDs arrived this week / one is brand new: Kirsty mcGee's Contraband has yet to be officially released (a beautiful, thoughtful collection of quiet songs - one that I highly recommend) / while Miriam Jones' Sign & Semblance has been around for a while (for me, the title song is just so absolutely bang on target, that it could have been written especially for me) ...
