On Saturday evening, Alex Hodgson played live at Celtic Connections. Minibuses had been arranged to transport his fans from East Lothian to Glasgow. I was to be picked up at the roundabout on Fulton Brae.
I thought that I could work out where to stand, but I wasn't sure, and was anxious that if I was in the wrong place, I could miss the pickup. Google, Google Maps, the Ordnance Survey - no information. Then, a brainwave! for local knowledge, I could phone our local library. The lady who answered didn't know, but there was a class in, and she offered to ask. The answer was forthcoming - one of the people there had been a postman. Result!
So, a shout out for local libraries - we need them. And thanks for the helpfulness on this particular occasion. And the concert was brilliant. I must record the comment made by the guy who did the first session: the front row of the audience mostly comprised young ladies from enCore, resplendent in their "Jeelie Jars ānā Coalie Backies" teeshirts (I hope to acquire one for myself on Wednesday), and the singer observed that he wished he had such a pretty fan club ...
