Interesting to visit the Dogs Trust rehoming centre. Not surprisingly, there are aspects of our circumstances which make it unlikely that we would find a suitable dog. I don't think that any of the dogs there to-day were reckoned to be OK with children of the ages our children are. And, as we expected, the time that we would have to leave a dog on its own could be a problem, but not, apparently, entirely ruling out the possibility.
So, we have taken a step, still not knowing where we shall end up ...
