Son is not well. Certainly not well enough to be in school. The cat has been injured, probably in a fight with another cat, but at this stage I don't know. I've taken the day off work to be at home with son. And I think that we should be taking the cat to the vet - hopefully we can be given an appointment this morning. I did think of trying to explain to the school that while son won't be at school, he will have to come with me to the vet ...
