On Friday night, the visiting cat appeared, looking the worse for wear. He was limping, and his fur was oil stained. We were concerned, and happy for him to stay the night, which he did.
On Saturday morning, we thought that he should be seeing a vet. But he isn't our cat. The previous evening, my wife had gone out to try to track down the owner. She left a note with our telephone number on it at the house of the person whom we believe to be the owner. But we had heard nothing by Saturday morning, and felt that we had to take action. My wife phoned Lothian Cat Rescue, who advised us of the vet they used.
The cat didn't mind too much being carried into the car, and driven to Loanhead. We left him with the vet, having by then pretty well reached the conclusion that if he was OK, and the owner wasn't to be found, we would like to adopt him. The vet later phoned us, leaving a message to the effect that the cat had been in a fight, and that he'd taken care of his wound. So it is likely that next week (the cat has to spend a week at the shelter), we shall be welcoming the cat back as the latest member of our family ...
