it works! i can open things in notepad from that ancient laptop (so ancient that it needs a plug socket to work, no battery power for that little beauty. Well, you can get a battery for it, but it would cost over a hundred quid, which i cannot spare. so that's the good news. The bad news is that my new car (my dad's old car) is going to cost £300 to get through it's MOT - 'well, you should expect that, cars being cars' i hear you cry. Yes indeed. But before i got it, my dad sorted it all out and basically got a mechanic to pre-MOT it for me. Not very successfully I think. Oh well.
