i turned 30 - very exciting party with bouncy castle and all. A perfect weekend, with lots of good friends who provided much revelry and a hell of a lot of pressies. Have a decade to think of something bigger and better. suggestions welcome.

i went to Greenbelt which, as ever, did exactly what it said on the tin. All hail Graham Cray, Duke Special, Billy Bragg (i was about 4 people from the front), Polyphonic Spree. I do understand there is some debate about their quality. i liked them but i can appreciate that it is a novelty value thing, and they are lots of fun which means that if you like that sort of fun whether or not they are really and truly any good is slightly irrelevant. although i must admit from where i was standing they were very much in tune and impressively tight, but others heard differently so i dunno. i was sober and everything so it wasn't that. lots of lovely tea tent moments. slight failure to catch up with everyone i wanted to catch up with, but lots of quality time with people anyway. fewer seminars, just wasn't so in the mood this year, but more music than usual - the performance cafe most days and the rising, the songwriters thing with the ever lovely martyn joseph (our boy. we are so proud). lovely seminar on RS Thomas by a vicar from burry port, so lying out on the grass in the sun hearing my favourite poem read out in a fabulous welshy vicar type voice - definately a top moment. i was 3 hours late for the wiblog gathering but it was ok cos there was still wine. also it meant i bumped into a slightly inebriated lemly on the way there, and i was at this point entirely sober and greatly amused. happy though she is generally, she was particularly smiley on this occasion. In conclusion, i never thought i'd find myself hailing somebody called Graham. But there we are.

Have done a lot of househunting. By which I mean a LOT.

Heard today that our very final no-we-are-no-way-paying-you-more-than-that offer on a house i was specially fond of has been accepted. Person selling is away till sept 10th, so we can't really do a lot, but HOW exciting!

Dissertation is going oh so slowly. Have done 3000 words. The limit is 20,000 but apparently 15000 will do. So I'm, you know, kind of nearly there.

After the Dissertation (due in two weeks today) I have three weeks off. i suspect i will need it.
