Sleep is going well in two ways. Way one is that I am actually sleeping. Way two is the fact that I am sometimes now remembering my dreams, which are invariably a lot of fun and slightly bizarre in places (possibly reflecting my life. Hmmm).
Anyway the other day I had a dream about playing charades - it was a comical mixture of people from two different places but of course it all seemed quite normal at the time. One person said to me 'do Bruce Springsteen for Alf' [name of friend changed because it's quite unique] - so in my dream i did all the actions to explain the following:
- it's a personal name
- it has two words (as most personal names do I suppose)
- second word has two syllables
- second syllable of second word sounds like 'seen' - I pointed to my eyes but it didn't work, gave up on that particular tack
- first syllable of second word - tried to mime 'summer' by pretending to put sun lotion on, autumn by miming the trees and the leaves falling - was trying, you see to get to spring. realised this was a crap idea.
- decided to jump up and down with a particular 'spring' - which worked, they got spring.
At this point I can't remember at all whether or not they got it, but I was staying at a friend's house and in the morning I repeated the actions I'd done in the dream and my friend got it at the same point.
Bruce Springsteen is a difficult one to do in charades, and I have the best dreams.
In other news, my bedroom floor is now well sanded and is sporting one coat of light oak varnish. The builders have plastered about half the walls in the two rooms and put in the door frame and some skirting board and put one of the radiators back on the wall (although it's not hooked up yet). My housemate pointed out the other day that although we've been basically camping in our rooms and kind of living at the bottom of the kitchen, soon we will have 4 brand new rooms and a new carpet in the hallway and won't that be nice. And it will. Then we can have a housewarming - we really ought to get that sorted before we celebrate having been in the house a year...
