in the old days it wouldn't have been too much of a shocker but you know, nowadays he's just pissed me right off. I got this quote originally from a stop the war coalition mailing and thought 'that can't be true', nevertheless it is here. if you look.
he says this: "Even if there were legal authority to do so, removing Saddam through military action would require the insertion of ground troops on a massive scale--hundreds of thousands, as the British Chief of the Defence Staff, Sir Charles Guthrie, made clear this morning. Even then, there would be no absolute guarantee of success. I cannot make that commitment responsibly". Quite.
Anyway, on a less anti-war note, I went to see The Life Of David Gale tonight, and I have to report that as I had heard that reviews were bad, i thought it was good (although from the trailer I thought it was going to be awesome, and if i had gone expecting that i would have been disappointed). Some very unneccesary stupid bits but on the whole a pretty good plot and some darned wonderful acting (we thought kevin spacey - as ever, perfect, and kate winslet, well she acted it well, might want to have a word with the casting people. also it didn't help that her character was called 'bitsey'). it's not bad, on the whole. Maybe not worth a trip to the pictures, but get it out on video one day. Here endeth the review.
