I received an e-mail notifying me of an informal “wine and cheese” café meeting, with the following blurb.
“Context shapes our mission but does it shape our worship?...two speakers will share their thoughts, on giving our worship a missional edge”
This sounded really interesting to me, it was a week night but I figured that the 120km drive to Melbourne would be worth it, so I sent off an acceptance saying I hoped it wouldn't be a too late finish as I'd be driving home after. (unfortunately that also meant I'd have to pass on the wine)
Well the reply came saying...was I really planning to drive home from SYDNEY that night??
I'd made a big mistake about the venue of the meeting... only another 800km or so further away.
What was more embarrassing was that I'd asked a couple of people to come along with me.
Oh well, maybe they'll have one closer to home sometime...
