Memories of our church camp a couple of weekends ago.
* singing “from the mountains to the valleys, hear our praises rise to you” whilst surrounded by the world heritage listed coastal heathlands of Anglesea, Victoria.
* the smell and taste from the coffee machine that someone had the good sense to bring.
* a kangaroo with joey in its pouch looking in the window as I'm trying to give a talk on workplace spirituality, (it seemed more interested than everybody else).
* the face on the representative of the local environmental group when I said “this would be a good place for a casino” as we embraced one of the best views in the bush and beach area.
* being challenged to explore different senses to keep my brain young and active and promising to try something new each month. (my wife and I decided to start this when we got home by simply sleeping one night with our bed turned around so's our heads were where our feet usually are....I slept like a rock, she hardly slept)
* the relaxed atmosphere and the kid's continually on the “flying fox” and trampolines
* everyone's attempts to explore arts and crafts as a means of telling their story
* the fun of the Saturday night concert where everybody had a go at something and it didn't have to be a five star performance. (nobody ever gets my jokes!)
So that's it, the theme of the weekend was “Life is worth living, and worth living well” and I'm gonna try and do that.
