The warmth of fellowship

I lit a candle in church recently for a friend of mine who is struggling on his own in a place where he has no friends or family. We don't normally have candles but it was a special time of intercession and I immediately thought of my friend.
The candle was lit and placed in a tray of sand in front of the cross. As I sat and prayed the candle went out. I didn't know what to think of this and was contemplating going forward and lighting it again when a really wonderful thing happened.
Other people were placing lighted candles in the sand and as the tray got full there was a group of lighted candles very close to the one I'd placed... it started smoking from the heat of the nearby candles and then as I watched my candle started burning again. Just from being close to other candles that were alight, it moved from....
darkness to light,
death to life,
loneliness to fellowship.
