One of the things that grab my interest in peoples blogs is descriptions of the weather where they are. That's not really deep is it? but I enjoy contrasting what someone on the other side of the planet is experiencing to what's happening here. It seems to me to bring the global picture clearer.
For example, I read that the weather is warming up in Great Britain whereas here, whilst it is still warm, I am spending every spare moment getting a supply of firewood in the shed preparing for the winter.
There's something very satisfying, even primal, about knowing you have enough wood stored to keep your family warm. This year I have more wood in the shed than I've ever had so I must be anticipating a long, and hopefully very wet, winter.
