I sometimes run into Melanie, a co-worker from my former department. She's one of those curvy little firecrackers that make me feel like an ox... and I am not all that big.
Anyway, she has a theory about dressing a little bit provocatively to get the customers to remember you - presumably she means the men. A little cleavage, etc., goes a long way.
I think it works. Couple days back, I wore to work one of the two low-cut shirts I own. Only two that meet the dress code, I mean.
One instance I noticed was with a couple of guys visiting from out of town. All the one man needed was a pair of pants. The style and size for him was at full price in the Big & Tall Shop.
I did not do anything differently with these fellows. I was no more warm, I made no different conversation. There was only the usual amount of bending over, etc.
But there was the cleavage - and the eyes did wander.
In the end he purchased several pairs of pants and a fine leather belt.
I told Melanie today, when I saw her at the time clock, that her theory was correct.
