1. The Boiler
Having had someone round to look at it, discovered that the boiler etc is so old the manufacturers (who I had to speak to in order to find someone local to who knows about warm air systems) would be very reluctant to supply parts to repair it. (Average lifespan of this type of system is 15-20 years, ours is 30+ years old). So we've had a quote for a new warm air system, and for changing to radiators. Warm air is cheaper, and we like it, so having checked the various bank/savings accounts I am going to phone up tomorrow to arrange this. Quite exciting.
2. The Neurosurgery
Groover's paediatrician, who I moaned to about this a while ago, seems to think it will all be easily sorted with a letter to the neurosurgeon at hospital F. So we are waiting and seeing.
3. The wedding quilt
I will finish it by their first anniversary, I promise.
4. Witterings.
Mr birdie has been here today, to what I probably quite meanly refer to as one of his opto-geek events. (Professional journals etc are also known as opto-geek magazines in this house.) He has come home with an exciting new bit of kit, the user manual of which appears to have been translated from the Japanese via several other languages and had some adventures along the way. I particularly like the bit that says "when burning or smoke occur during use, remove a battery from a product immediately" - note when, not if - scary stuff. My favourite bit though is where it says on the cover: 'Contents of this manual may change without notice', like one morning mr b is going to check it and find it's now the instruction leaflet for a juicer.
