Reader, I broke it

Haven't been around, as the interweb chez birdie has been broken since Saturday, due to my idiot attempts to repair it (if you see what I mean). Our lovely friend and free tech support R came round this morning and mended it, which means that mr b and I, starved of our little virtual worlds for days, are now sitting, me at the desk, and him on the bed with his laptop, absorbed in cyberspace, barely speaking. Any minute now, one of us will start to dribble.

So, here is a run-down of life since Saturday.

Saturday, felt like I was going down with something but was sure it wouldn't come to anything, so continued to plan as I was supposed to be leading worship on Sunday morning.

Sunday morning arrived, with me feeling (and probably looking) like the living dead; sent mr b to church with the list of songs to give to the keyboard player so she could lead and retired to my pit of sickness for the rest of the day.

Felt much better on Monday, but other than that, can't really remember much about Monday or Tuesday, my life is that thrilling.

Yesterday I found a newt in the garden. He was curled up in a bag of compost, looking dry and dead, but swam about merrily when put into the watering can. He might have been slightly traumatised by Groover, who spent a portion of the afternoon with his face over the bit of the watering can where you put the water in, shouting "hello newt!" really quite loudly. The newt was rehoused in a neighbour's pond later on.

Last night mr b and I went to see Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis at our local theatre. They were very funny indeed. My face was aching from laughing by the time we left. I saw them live years and years ago when they were half of The Mary Whitehouse Experience which was funny in a 'oo aren't they rude and aren't we rebellious going to see them' 15 year old sort of way. Last night was properly funny - I hadn't realised what a physical comedian Hugh Dennis is - the comedy is pretty much him larking about while Steve Punt (who reminds me of a vague english lecturer*) is more of a straight guy. I recommend them.

This afternoon I was in Milford Haven doing a staff training session. Milford Haven is a very long way from Abergavenny ('home of the ASBO granny from hell', as P&D put it) and I am very tired. So I am stopping now.

*This is no criticism - vague english lecturer is one of my favourite types of people. Or person. I am too tired to be able to tell.
