Oooooh!

In one of Douglas Adams' books, he talks about the experience of moving (in a few seconds) from total ignorance of the existence of a thing, to the knowledge that one can't live without said thing. I think he has a name for it, but I can't remember what it is. (I think it's in one of the Dirk Gently books).

Anyway, that's kind of how I felt about discovering Kate Westerholt's work in today's Sunday Times. Apparently she researches the motifs and patterns she uses from original 18th and 19th century samplers, and each piece takes days and is very expensive indeed.

This one, however, is apparently going to be made available as a limited edition print. This makes me happy. Happy or not though, I am not going to spend £120 on a print of a cross-stitch, since the fact that it is cross-stitch is kind of the point. A print is just silly. So I won't be spending all that money on it. Nn-nn. Definitely not.

By the way, while we're on the subject, I assume you're all aware of the existence of Subversive Cross-stitch? This also makes me happy.
