Shameless

I'm afraid I am going to use you all, dear readers, for some market research.

The thing is, I've made quite a few bags recently, and I'm getting really good responses to them. From people whose opinions I trust, and who wouldn't be telling me something was good if it wasn't. (As well as people who would say everything was marvellous even if it was clearly rubbish. I'm cheerfully ignoring most of that...)

So I've been giving some serious thought to getting some of my bags into local craft shops, etc. Now, there are some decisions I need to make about this, and, if you don't mind, I'm going to use you lot (among others) to help me make them.

What I will be doing is posting pictures of bags over the coming weeks, and asking you some questions about them. I am looking for honest answers, and I promise I won't be offended when people say they don't like a particular bag/whatever, so please feel free to say whatever you want. (You can always be anonymous in comments if you really want to!)

There are two main decisions I have to make:
1. Which designs to concentrate on producing. I'll be showing you six designs, and that's far too many to have in a craft shop where you might have limited space. I'm hoping to narrow that down to three or even two, so that there will hopefully be space to display several versions of the same design.
2. Pricing. This is the biggie really, and I am getting lots of helpful advice from other sources, but would be interested to know what you think. Again, please say what you think - if someone has commented before you and said they would cheerfully pay £30 for a bag, but you would only part with £5 for it, please say so - with reasons if there are any in particular - all info is helpful!

I really hope you don't mind me doing this here. Part of the reason is that I know a very varied group of people read this wiblog, from those who sew and could probably tell at a glance how I made a particular bag, to those who have no idea, and those who might very occasionally buy a bag as a gift, to those who are raging handbag addicts! It will be really interesting to see the responses.

Most of the bags you will have seen before, so I'm going to kick off (in the next post) with a new one, just to keep you interested!
