People keep telling me I should write a book. As if I'd have the time for that.

So, after the rotovirus hospital admission we managed four nights at home before we took her in again, because she was wheezy. Yup, wheezy. You'd be forgiven for thinking we're starting to over-react a bit and are taking her down to the ward to get checked for the merest little thing. I was having the same feelings myself, to be honest, and arrived quite apologetically last Saturday evening. They kept her in, and kept an eye on her over Saturday night and Sunday. Sunday afternoon, we were discussing the possibility of bringing her home, although we decided on balance to keep her in Sunday night just to be absolutely sure she was okay.

So far, so overprotective.

Totally vindicated, however, on Monday morning when the hospital called to say she was worse. By the time I got there, they were getting her ready to go down to theatre to intubate her (put her on a ventilator) and an ambulance was coming up to Cardiff to take her to the Big Hospital, where they have paediatric ITU facilities.

Sigh.

She stayed on the ventilator till Wednesday, when she self-extubated during some fairly vigorous physio, and was transferred back to our local hospital on Friday. She's still there. We're hoping for home tomorrow, but, you know.
