On two counts.
1: I have a new washing machine. The old one died on New Year's day which did instill me with a sense of deep foreboding about 2009 generally. Ginger has quite severe reflux which for some reason really took a turn for the worse over Christmas, with the result that she has been vomiting every feed (and worryingly is losing weight, but that's not the point of this entry), and generating a load of washing a day on her own, before you take into consideration her dirt-magnet brother and prone-to-spilling-things-on-herself mother. In such a situation the correct response to the washing machine breaking on a bank holiday is "waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah". That's what I said, anyway. A shiny new one arrived on Tuesday and has been pretty much on ever since. While comparing prices of machines online I came to the slightly worrying conclusion that some people must just decide to buy a washing machine - there were several where the delivery date was some time in the middle of February. I would assume that most people shopping for washing machines would be in the same boat as me, i.e. "No, you idiots, I can't wait for February, I need a washing machine NOW." There must presumably be some people who just say to themselves "you know, I think I'll buy a new washing machine". Presumably for fun. How very odd. (In case you're wondering how we managed for a week and a hlaf with no machine the answer is we have a neighbour who a)is an angel from heaven and b)has an industrial sized washing machine.)
2: I went to meet the head teacher of the school Groover is probably going to in September today, to have a chat and go round the school and it was absolutely fab. Everyone I've spoken to about it loves it (I know one of the teachers there from church), so I was expecting it to be good, but I was actually blown away by it, and I've been very reassured about a lot of my concerns about him starting school generally. It's definitely the right place for him. I think I need to start learning welsh properly though or I'm not going to understand a word he's saying in a year or so's time.
