Baby books are absurd

Someone lent us 'What to expect in the first year'. It has a chapter for each month, and at the beginning of each there is a little list of 'What your baby will be doing this month'. Specially designed to send the more anxiety-prone parent into a vortex of panic on a monthly basis. The lists are split into categories from 'Run to your doctor sobbing if your baby can't do this by now' to 'Your baby can do this? S/he's a child prodigy!!'.

This month, baby b can do only one of the 'run to the doctor' list, and about three of the 'child prodigy' list.

It's a good job I'm not an anxiety-prone parent.

(Enjoyed Wallace and Gromit, by the way. Particularly impressed that it had Joe Grundy in it!)
