In the evening, rang the hospital as instructed to find out what time we should go in the next day:
Me: Hello, my name is birdie and I'm booked in to have labour induced tomorrow. My consultant told me to phone tonight to find out what time you want me to arrive.
Midwife: Oooh, no... we would expect you to ring tomorrow, about 8.30, and we'll tell you when we want you in, probably about 9.00.
Me: Yes, but I live an hour or so away, that's why the consultant told me to ring tonight rather than leaving it till the morning.
Midwife: Well, I can't really tell you as everything could change overnight in terms of how much space we have on the ward.
Me (starting to fray at the edges somewhat): Look, I'm not being induced because I'm overdue, I'm being induced because my baby is going to need surgery when he is born and they want to schedule it before Christmas. Mr D, the foetal medicine consultant told me to ring tonight, so that I can come in tomorrow for them to induce labour.
Midwife: Okay, let me find your notes and ring you back.
Poor woman, last thing you want on a Sunday night is an awkward one like me on the phone. She did ring back though, and we did have to wait and ring the next morning.
There will be more 'this time last year' posts as the week goes on. I promise Thursday's will be light on detail.
