A baby writes....

Good morning fans, and a Happy New Year to you all.

I've noticed that The Mother hasn't updated you recently (with anything interesting about me, the real subject of this blog, that is) so to make up for this frankly shoddy service I have decided to address you, my public, myself.

I've noticed that after a peak in performance around the 22nd to 26th December, the present giving seems to have waned a bit. I'm not happy with this, I must say, and I hope it isn't an indication of things to come. However The Mother did come home from town on Tuesday with a rather spiffing pair of shoes which look like football boots. However, sadly lacking in imagination, she insists on putting them on my feet rather than allowing me to gnaw at them. She and The Father are rather taken with these shoes, and have made me wear them with the Everton kit which The Cool Uncle brought me from Goodison when he went up for the Merseyside derby last week. There are only so many such indignities a baby can take, but I suppose as long as I rely upon them for my food supply I have to put up with a certain amount of this type of behaviour.

On to more pressing matters. As you'll know, I turned one year old just before Christmas. On reflecting on my life over the past year it struck me that I had mainly just sat down. Well, being one, I know I'm not getting any younger, so I feel I should get on with life. In the space of a week, over Christmas, I acheived the following firsts:
- I manouevred from a lying position to sitting up
- I crawled (much my favourite mode of transport now - why didn't I think of it before?)
- My tooth finally came through
- I insist on feeding myself at mealtimes
- I pulled up to standing in my cot (I often use the cot, or 'cruel and unusual baby restraint device' as I like to call it, as a training ground. It's bouncier than the floor)

Reviewing this list I must express my shock and disappointment that The Mother has not seen fit to update you with such a tale of stellar acheivement. Still, none of us are getting any younger, and she has been looking more tired of late. I can't imagine why.
