Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the news

Well then. A few weeks ago I typed this, and then deleted it hurriedly:

Gosh. It appears we are buying a business. Mr birdie is self employed, but for the last couple of years or so has been working mainly for a guy (let's call him P) we know from church who runs his own business. About a year ago (yes, that's how long this has been going on without us really being able to tell anyone), P approached mr b and said that he was considering selling the business and was mr b interested. A year of not-really-being-sure-what's-going-on went by and then we said we were definitely interested last year. Just before Christmas we made a firm offer, expecting it to be the starting point of negotiations, and today P got in touch to say he accepts the offer!

So, last month we agreed a sale price, and today the staff (yes, staff! we will employ people, how ridiculous is that?) were told, which is why I'm now happy to write about it. I wasn't there, but mr b said he wasn't too sure what they thought about it all. People just don't like change though do they? I think when they've all had a good gossip about it all they'll probably feel that if P was going to sell the business, having mr b (who they know) is better than someone completely new. (I'm trying to avoid the phrase 'better the devil you know' here, but as you can see, I just failed.)

So there we are. Now if you'll excuse me I'll just go off and giggle hysterically about being 'the Boss's wife'....
