This should be a rant, but I haven't got the energy.
Background:
Because of some of baby b's medical needs, we have a fortnightly clinical waste collection from our house. The service is patchy, to say the least. They come every other Thursday, but it's not uncommon for them not to come, and then sometimes will come the week after (ie the week they're not supposed to) and sometimes not for two weeks. I don't have any contact directly with the department of the council that deals with this. It was set up by the community childrens' nurses, and so I contact them when necessary. When a pick up is missed, I usually let them know, and they chase it. The council's response is nearly always "well the driver went out, but the bag wasn't there". So basically they're lying, and accusing us of lying. We always put the bag out. Mr b puts it out by the front door when he leaves for work, and as often as not, brings it in again when he gets home. Also, it occurs to me, the only way we'd know they hadn't come is if we put the bag out, and it's still there at the end of the day. (Does that make sense? It does to me.)
Current saga:
Well, last Thursday they were due to come, and didn't pick up. I phoned the community nurses to let them know, and they said they'd chase it. I had a phone call on Wednesday saying they had contacted the council, who were getting back to them, but hadn't yet, and to put the bag out again on Thursday (yesterday) just in case. The bag was not collected yesterday. I had a phone call from the nurse this morning, who had finally got a call back from the council. The lady from the council said the pick up had not been made because the client, E.D. had told them that he no longer required a clinical waste collection. The nurse replied "well that's astonishing, given that E.D. is thirteen months old. He's obviously more advanced than his mother thinks."
At least the nurses know it's not me being economical with the truth now...
