Square five is compete, and sewed onto square four. Unfortunately this means that the next stage is cutting the fabric for square six, which always does my head in a bit. Still, Progress is Being Made.
In answer to various quilt-related questions..
Yes, I am sewing it by hand. I know there is a way to do this sort of quilting on the machine (paper piecing, is it?) but hand patching, with the pieces tacked onto card which you then remove, is all I know really.
I will finish it off by machine, the edging and backing. This is also a Good Thing, as it means I will have to get the two (!!) machines I have for some reason down from the attic, decide which one is better, and get rid of the other one. I hardly ever have the need to do machine sewing, so when these two machines arrived looking for a home they were shown directly to the attic. It's good to have to do something about them.
I think that the quilt entries in this wiblog have got the most response of anything I've ever blogged about. (Barring pictures of cute babies, that is). I may declare March 'Craft Month' at the Ad Lib School of Parenting, but I'm not sure whether that will just end up being 'blatant showing off month' instead. Although I do have many things made by very clever friends and family which I could post photos of. I might do that.
