An Eventful Day

I should have known yesterday would be a string of Events when I kicked it off by fainting when I got up... All I really remember is coming round on the floor thinking "ah, that's better, I'm lying down" while mr b demanded to know whether I was bleeding or not. (Apparently I hit my head on the chest of drawers on the way down. My head doesn't hurt though, although I did think I might have broken my nose. I haven't. But I did think it again when baby b headbutted me *right there* this morning.)

If that's not a signal to give up on the day and go back to bed, I don't know what is. But did I take any notice? No! We had Plans.

We went to my parents' for lunch, which was lovely. Unsurprisingly we were late, but that's always okay there. You don't go to my parents' house without having some sort of fresh vegetable pressed upon you as you leave. So there we were, me and my dad, picking rhubarb (crumble tonight!) when the heavens opened and very large bits of hail started chucking it down. Pea-sized hail hurts.

Then we went to mr b's sister's house for the afternoon, which was also lovely. We popped out to get cakes to eat with our tea. We were in the tiny corner shop, and I decided to go and wait outside with baby b as the buggy is large. I was manoeuvring backwards through the narrow door and a young man held it open for me, which was very kind, and I was gushingly grateful. As he squeezed past me onto the pavement I vaguely twigged that his sleeve was looking a bit bulky, and a strange shape. "Oh" I thought to myself as he broke into a run and the shop assistant dashed after him. I am such a twit.

Then on to my friend L's birthday party (which was the real reason for all this gallivanting about). Which was very lovely and baby b was very good. He has attended several parties in his pyjamas. Our rule is that we leave if/when he starts getting whingy. He lasted till 9.30 last night which I thought was pretty good going as it had been an eventful day.

On the way home we were in the queue for the tolls at the Severn Bridge when two blokes on the minibus in front attracted my attention. One was grinning and pointing to his friend, who was, erm, Enjoying Himself in a manner I'm not going to describe as it will lead to Unsavoury Google Searches finding this site. After persuading mr b that getting out and clobbering the guy would only lead to us getting home ridiculously late, we went through the tolls and zoomed on home.

Got back at 11* and did an hour's business-related work and then collapsed into bed.

I'd like it noted by whoever it is that deals with these things that after yesterday I'm putting in a request for several month's non-eventfulness as I think I've had my fair share for a while.

Did I mention I've finished the quilt?!

*This is really late for me!
